San Diego Children and Family Photographer Schafer Photography aims to provide photos of you and your family that you will cherish for years to come. We hope that our casual style (both in personality and photographs) will put you at ease. While we often get a few posed shots, our "focus" is usually on candid photographs that reflect you and your family. We want to give you a photo or "souvenir" of this special time in your life. Relaxed Children’s and Family Photography “Relaxed”: We mean that! We understand that most people feel a certain amount of pressure when having pictures taken. Are we going to wear the right clothes, have the best smiles, and will my hair look good…. We understand your concerns and really try to relieve as much pressure as possible. The more relaxed you (and your children feel) the more it will show in the photographs. We will play, goof around, laugh, and just hang out. In the mean time, we will take some fantastic photos. Just think of us as a new friend who has their camera with them at all times. And actually, we do.  Kid’s photos work best when we are able to play with the kids. At the beach you may find us splashing in the water and building sand castles. We may swing with them at the park while we take pictures, or just lie on the floor in your home and laugh with them. Keith Hawkins, an inspirational youth speaker says that “people may not always remember what you say, but they remember how they felt.” Our aim is to capture that positive feeling. We’ve frequently heard people say “Wow, that was fun!” after our sessions. Customers also comment about our ability to take fun, relaxed photos of their children that shows all parts of their kid’s personalities. San Diego Family Photography: Maternity, Newborns, Infants, Babies, Toddlers, Children and Families Both Julia and Jason have enjoyed photography since childhood. Like many other photographers, our enthusiasm for child photography elevated to new levels when our children were born. All of a sudden, our friends (and their friends) wanted us to take photos of their children...and a business was born. We love working together and truly value our shared interest in photography. Capturing the relationships between people and the bond they share As much as we love all other stages of life, photographing newborns, infants, babies, toddlers, has to be towards the top of the list. Our favorite shots are those of a newborns yawn; the cuddle of a infant into his mother’s neck; a baby’s smile as she gets ready to inquisitively crawl dart across the room; and a toddler’s wobbly stumble into the waiting arms of a parent. Capturing these preciously fleeting moments are what we love most about being photographers. I wish we had more photos of when Julia was pregnant with our children. Julia talks often about the beauty of being pregnant. Pregnancy is such an valuable time in the life of a family. We feel so blessed and excited when clients call for maternity sessions. San Diego Photographer We’ve lived in San Diego since 1996 and we love the whole area. We have several locations that we can recommend, but when deciding on a location, the biggest thing to look for is comfort. Most families want beach photos, but let’s face it, not everyone likes the beach (even if they live in San Diego). That’s o-kay! We want to find a location that fits you. We’d love to come to your home and hang out in the back yard, a local park, down-town, or anywhere you want to go. We live in the Chula Vista area, but can easily travel. The areas we most commonly visit include: San Diego, Coronado, La Jolla, Eastlake, Balboa Park, Solano Beach, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Otay Ranch, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar, Pacific Beach, Rancho San Diego, and Imperial Beach. Of course, if you would like us to go with you on a trip to Maui or something, I’m sure we can arrange something.  Senior Portraits In addition to photographing children and families, we do Senior Portrait photography sessions. Schools usually require a certain photo goes into their yearbook, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have wonderfully stylish photos as well. We can go to a number of locations, include prop or hobbies, and even include wardrobe changes in each session. Contact us to get more info on our Senior Portrait packages.
